Are you tracking trends for long enough?

Covid changed everything. Except when it didn’t. 

F’rinstance, weekly new business applications in the US are now up 40% vs pre-pandemic. And that number doesn’t look like it’s going back down. 

Meanwhile, personal consumption spending plummeted, but bounced back almost perfectly to the long-term trend line.

Do short-term disruptions matter too? Obvi. Lots of short-term disruptions tanked (or ballooned) lots of companies.

But if you’re in the business of trends, or long-term planning, be sure to have long-term data.

Especially before you start saying, “nothing will every be the same!”
